How to understand a shortlink before you click on it

Posted by Staff Writer on September 16, 2014 in instructional, Tech TV | 18 Views

You have probably heard of shortlinks before. These are shortened urls (list of URL shorteners) that do not give any real information about the domain they originated from.  They are used a lot in services like twitter because they do not take up too many characters in twitters 140 character limit requirement. However, sometimes shorlinks have been used for malicious purposes. Some nefarious individuals may use shortlinks to hide malicious websites.  Example, the shortened URL could be linked to a site that will download spyware or a link to a pornographic site. In the Video we will explain how you can get more information on your shortlink before you click on the URL by using longurl.org.
