  • 5 gadgets that let you charge your devices without an electrical outlet                         - March 23, 2015
With so many gadgets that use rechargeable batteries, it’s nice to have options for charging your devices that don’t require always being right next to an electrical outlet. Here are five awesome gadgets that let you charge your devices without using an electrical outlet.

Juno Power HUE Plus External Batteries

With these external batteries, you don’t need an electrical outlet to charge your devices. You have your own portable power supply that features two USB ports and a digital display that lets you know how much charge the battery has left while it is in use. These batteries work with any device that charges using a USB port, including iPhones and iPads. A single cord attaches the battery to your existing charger. It does takes several hours to reach a 100% charge for a device that has run completely out of power. Charging devices all the way from zero power can use up most of the battery power of this gadget, but the external batteries are completely rechargeable. The Hue Plus is available in a variety of different colors.

iGo Charge Anywhere

This charging device allows you to plug into an outlet if one is available, but features an external battery for times when you don’t want to be attached to a wall. The iGo Charge Anywhere is compact with collapsible wall blades that allow for easy storage. Its versatility makes it a favorite for people on the go. Its built-in battery adds convenience, and its interchangeable power tips make it compatible with all sorts of electronic devices. This lightweight unit has has two USB ports, so you can power two devices simultaneously. Perfect for flying and other travel situations where no electrical outlets are available, the iGo Charge Anywhere really does let you charge anywhere.

Levin™ Solstar Solar Panel Charger

The Levin Solstar Solar Panel Charger uses an eco-friendly and extremely powerful lithium polymer battery that charges your devices using solar panels. It is rain-resistant, dirt-proof, and shock proof which means this charger can handle just about anything. It can charge itself in sunlight, though this feature isn’t without its downsides. Charging this gadget that way could take up to seven or eight hours. The Levin Solstar comes with a small hook on the top that makes it easy to attach to your belt or backpack. It also features dual USB ports. This gadget is a favorite backup for people who like to spend time outdoors. It features a flashlight that comes in handy after dark. Perfect for hiking, this multifunctional solar charger can handle the elements.

uNu Aero Battery Case and Mat

A convenient solution for on-the-go charging, the uNu Aero Battery Case and Mat offers the luxury of having a case that takes care of the charging for you. It comes with a very powerful battery that essentially doubles the charge of your device, increasing talk time by up to ten hours and adding up to 270 hours of standby time. It charges wirelessly right from the charging pad, offering increased efficiency. It is designed so that phones can sync and charge without removing the case. This means extra protection for your device. You can also combine the charging mats to wirelessly charge several devices at once. This device has been tested by Apple Labs. It received official certification approving it for use with iPhones. There are also versions available that are compatible with some Android operating systems.

RCA Wall Plate Outlet

Another excellent charging option is the RCA Wall plate outlet. This charger is different from the others on this list. It is actually part of the wall outlet plate itself, and frees up electrical outlets for other things. While not a portable option, it can be great in a home with lots of devices fighting over outlet space. For someone who isn’t interested in portable charging as much as adding convenience around the home, these plate outlets offer an excellent solution by adding USB chargers to the wall outlets themselves. While not the same as an external battery, this technology provides so much convenience in the home that it definitely deserved a place on this list.

Charging devices without an electrical outlet is easy when you’ve got the right charging gadget. Whether you’re looking for a way to charge while you’re on a camping trip, at school, in flight, or at home, these five gadgets give you options that don’t require plugging into a wall outlet. The days of waiting until you get to an electrical outlet to charge your devices is over. The convenience of being able to charge devices more easily and more efficiently frees you up to talk, text, and play games on your favorite devices without the disappointment of realizing that there’s nowhere to recharge.
