Meet the Founder of the TransitKonect Taxi Booking app

Posted by Staff Writer on April 28, 2015 in Startup Spotlight, Uncategorized | 464 Views

Adedayo Charis is an up and coming Nigerian Entrepreneur with a passion for the mobile technology space.  He is the founder of the iKon Tracker,  a tiny and portable tracking device that can be linked to your mobile device.  He hopes this technology can help reduce the kidnapping problems in Nigeria.  He is currently raising funds on indiegogo for this technology.  Click here to see the campaign.  We interviewed with Adedayo last week to find out more about his future ventures.

What is your name?

My name is Adedayo Charis and I am the founder of iKon Tracker, I also have a rapidly growing Transportation start-up called TransitKonect (a Taxi booking App), which was recently launched in Nigeria. Both iKon Tracker and TransitKonect are products/services of the company I registered in Nigeria: Byandby Global Investments Limited. I am the Founder and CEO of Byandby Global Investments Limited.

Tell us about yourself and how you came up with your business?

I’m a final year Bsc of Engineering student at Griffith University, Qld, Australia; I also studied Dip in IT (Central Queensland University, Australia, 2011). I used to repair mobile phones in computer village, Ikeja, Lagos Nigeria. I love and believe in technology and its ability to help people in Africa. Events such as kidnapping of over 200 Chibok school girls, the domestic help/maid that ran away with the 3 Orekoya boys in Surulere, Lagos,Nigeria were instrumental in my decision to create this product. The need to depersonalize security and up the usage of technology can’t be stressed enough.

Tell me about Byandby Global Investments Limited

Byandby Global Investments Limited is a company that is committed to becoming a leading force in the development of innovative technological solutions to businesses, organizations and individuals. Byandby products and services are innovative technological solutions aimed at empowering lives and ensuring business growth.
When was the company founded, who are the key founders, stakeholders, investors

The company was founded in July 2013. Key Founders: Adedayo Charis (As at now No other stakeholder and Investor)

Can you talk about the operational aspects of the service?

At the moment, Byandby Global Investments Limited only has 3 stationary staffs that are working on commission, (and we are currently training taxi drivers for the use of TransitKonect Taxi App)

What markets do you target?

Nigerian and African Market.

How are you different from your competitors?

Presently, there are no competitors in Nigeria and also none in West Africa.

A lot of our viewers are in the United States, help us understand your business by telling us a comparable business in the states. Example you are the “Amazon of South Africa”

iKon is the Chipolo and Tile of Africa ( Chipolo : www.chipolo.net : Nothing is lost) and (Tile https://www.thetileapp.com/)

How is your venture changing the market landscape?

Before iKon Tracker was founded, there is no better way to prevent or reduce kidnapping and theft, the security forces are not functional and unreliable.

Now every ikon tracker user can have peace of mind, knowing exactly where their loved ones and belongings are.

Are there any upcoming promotional events or websites you would like the readers to visit?

Here is the link to our indiegogo crowdfunding campaign and landing web page

What is next for you?
We have built and tested Alpha version of the ikon chip and currently developing iKon mobile Application and also finalizing our Beta ikon chip. We are now using indiegogo crowdfunding platform to raise funds to manufacture iKon chip mass production for the open market.

Byandby Global Investments Limited, has a very promising future, we have struck a partnership deal with the largest taxi association in Africa, which boasted about 7,000 taxis and drivers. All the 7,000 taxis would be using the TransitKonect taxi booking application,  which was recently launched by Byandby Global Investments Limited in January 29, 2015 in Lagos Nigeria.

In addition, all the taxi drivers would have be carrying outdoor and indoor advertisement (Digital Marketing service of Byandby) on all of the 7,000 taxis and all the Lagos state Taxi union drivers would also purchase iKon chip, to prevent their vehicles from theft, all these are part of Byandby Global Investments Limited contract agreement with Lagos State Taxi Drivers Association.

Charity begins at home and it is paramount that as Africans we must be able to provide tangible relief and lasting solutions to our problems. They say prevention is better than cure, with the iKonCommunity, everyone unconsciously plays a part in protecting and locating each others belongings, hence creating a technology policing community that has proven to be more efficient that our respective local Police.
