A Uganda-based IT start-up Access.Mobile which created a web-based app which allows health facilities to automate communication with their patients via both SMS and email is seeking partners from beyond its base to help it extend its services to more people.
Access.Mobile’s system, ClinicCommunicator, allows partner hospitals and clinics to automate various aspects of communication with their patients – including appointment reminders – thereby reducing the number of missed appointments and minimising long queues in the facilities’ waiting area.
In an interview with CIO East Africa, Mr Kaakpema Yelpaala, founder of Access.Mobile said that the system also sends out medication reminders to patients to remind them to take their medication, adding that this is particularly relevant for chronic conditions such as diabetes and HIV/AIDS.
