Suzana Moreira is a South African woman that lives in Mozambique. She founded moWoza which is derived from the words “mobile” and the Zulu word “woza”, meaning “to come” or “to run”. She realized that majority of the business are owned by women, and as a result they have to travel to South Africa to buy their merchandise. moWoza is solving this challenge by offering access to products to store owners without having to travel. Storeowners order the inventory they need by simply sending an SMS. Suzana and her team then source the goods and deliver them directly to the shops. moWoza provides informal cross-border traders in Southern Africa with a mobile information service on pricing and access to goods and this service won her the Cartier Women’s Initiative Award.
