The five-man shortlist was revealed on a special live broadcast by the BBC from London. The nominees were discussed by a panelist that included Cameroon’s 2017 African Cup of Nations winner Arnaud Djoum, Nigeria’s 1996 Olympic football champion Emmanuel Amuneke, and Uganda’ national team and Crystal Palace ladies squad Jean Sseninde.
Votings are now open, and fans can vote for their favorite footballer out of this list of five. The player with the most votes will be crowned the BBC African Footballer of the Year 2017 on Monday, December 11, 2017. The live announcement will be made on the BBC World TV and BBC Service Ration from 17:35 GMT. The BBC Africa and BBC Sports websites will also carry the news.
