“This year an announcement came on the weekend, but Scarface from Geto Boys ain’t trick or treating.” In fact, the Houston hip-hop legend is now looking to rock the political stage. The rapper, whose real name is Brad Jordan, announced plans to run for the Houston City Council to represent District D, reported the Houston Chronicle.
Jordan, 48, made the announcement one day after fellow Geto Boys member Bushwick Bill died of pancreatic cancer, reported the USA Today. Bill was only 52.
“It’s official. I’m offering myself for service as the
next Houston City Councilmember for District D. Join our movement! More details
to come. www.bradfordistrictd.com,”Jordan wrote on Instagram.
His campaign slogan is “Of The People, For The People.” He
certainly has support from his contemporaries as fellow Houston rappers Bun B
and Paul Wall have both voiced their support.
